Notary Public Service

Some legal documents require that a signature be witnessed by a notary public.  Notaries can also certify true copies of original documents presented to them.

Within the college there are several notaries who will certify signatures and copies for college personnel at no cost.  They are:

Jan Helgoth, in the Dean's Office; O&M Rm 202; (979) 845-3651

Debbie French, in the Dept of Geography; O&M Rm 810; (979) 845-7141

Sylvia Mendez-Pitts, at GERG; (979) 862-2324

DO NOT SIGN THE DOCUMENT to be notarized BEFORE you are in front of the notary.  Notaries cannot certify a signature that they do not personally witness, nor can they certify copies if the original is not presented.  If a third party must sign the document, that third party must appear before the notary, too.

When using the services of a notary, be sure to bring photo I.D.
